Riding This Bike For An Hour Powers Your Home For An Entire Day!
Currently, 3 billion people, a bit under half the human population, has no electricity. Renewable energy has brought power to more and more people, but it’s capabilities are still limited. Now, Manoj Bhargava, founder of the Free Electric hybrid bike, is sharing his invention with the world.
“Everything requires energy. Energy is the great equalizer,” says Bhargava, which is why he developed this bike to help that half of the world that doesn’t have power to light their lives.
Access to clean energy doesn’t just give people light, but enables them to connect to the internet and receive better educations. Often people stay poor because of these disadvantages. That’s why Manoj plans to distribute 10,000 of the bikes in India next year.
With this technology we could set up public gyms with a variety of work out equipment that generates electricity. The ideal set up would be one in which the membership is free. The exercise equipment had a slot in which members could stick their membership card. They would get a credit for the electricity they generated. The gym would have a restaurant associated with it that the members could redeem their credit for healthy food.
I think this would be particularly useful on or near a college or university campus, but could certainly be utilized anywhere. I think such a set up would attract people who not only wanted a free work out but people who wanted free food as well. In either case it would improve the health of the greater community all while generating free clean and renewable energy.
What do you think? Would you ride a bike everyday so you could power your home? Check out the video to see how it works.
